HTI Stars

The HTI Stars program at the Hockey Training Institute provides an all-inclusive environment for student-athletes with a fundamental balance between hockey and school. We expect equal dedication and achievement in the classroom and on the ice. It is imperative to our program that players develop both academically and athletically to provide them with more opportunities in post-secondary education. We designed our academic program to allow students to succeed in their best learning environment.

Convoy International Secondary Academy's private school system and partnership with HTI allows for student interaction and learning with peers and teachers in a traditional classroom environment. Although it requires daily attendance, our private school staff members are prepared to cooperate with HTI's training and travel schedules. Students are able to get involved with extracurricular activities and create relationships throughout the local community! Coaches maintain close communication with teachers to ensure academic success.

Currently, Convoy Academy offers classes in grades 9-12 and provides an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) upon completion. You can inquire regarding special cases for younger ages as well. Various online study opportunities are also still available for our athletes.

For more information, please contact HTI directly here or visit the Convoy Academy website at convoyinternational.ca.

Academic Services

Experienced tutors are available for additional assistance with particular courses. These tutors provide one-on-one assistance in each subject area to teach course content and manage student work goals. With additional support, students are able to stay on track with their assignments, obtain extra help when needed, and move ahead with confidence.

We also offer an ESL (English as a Second Language) course, which is taught by an Ontario-certified ESL teacher. This course helps our international students with written and verbal communication skills, as well as preparation for the TOEFL (English Language Exam), if necessary for admission to their college of choice.

There are also opportunities to prepare for standardized college entrance exams (SAT or ACT). Our certified tutors arrange times each week to meet with juniors, seniors, and post-graduate students interested in taking these exams to help familiarize them with content and the test-taking process.

** Additional fees or materials may be required for added academic services. Please inquire.

Distance Learning

Distance learning is another acceptable academic option for students at HTI. Students may collaborate with a previous school to continue coursework remotely, either via email, fax, or post. This must be arranged prior to arrival at our residence and we must receive confirmation of this arrangement from school administrators.
